Chess Server

This work deals with the creating, and solving the problem of a chess server. It is about creating a chess server wherewith people can play chess through the Internet or a local network and also on a PC. In the real world the construction of the informational system resembles chess games between two players. According to the basic rules of chess the control of the right movements, the analysis of special movements like taking a figure and also rooking, projection and the analysis of checks and mates on the king are solved. During the game statistics of the movements are kept and after the end of the game the performance of the players are calculated by the virtue of record and statistics are kept about the gained ELO (rating) points.

Religious composition of the lower nobility in South and West Bohemia at the beginning of the 17th century

The diploma thesis analyses one source which contains almost 100 names of knights living mainly in Prácheňsko and Plzeňsko during the end of 16th and the beginning of 17th century. In the first part of the thesis, literature describing early-modern-age society and nobility is introduced. Afterwards, there is a list of sources which used different approaches to research the topic of knights. Subsequently, the description of the analysed source is present. It is followed by the list of entries which were created based on the information mentioned in the analysed source. Each knight has their own entry paragraph. Every entry contains information about their families, property, court, or state offices. If possible, a note about their confession is included. In the last part of the thesis, the analysed source is dated based on the acquired knowledge about the knights' lives. It is also set into the context of historical development. The information about the knights' property, offices and confessions are summarized at the end of the thesis.

Czech Luxembourges in french contemporary historiography

Petra JEDINÁKOVÁ, CZECH LUXEMBOURGES IN FRENCH CONTEMPORARY HISTORIOGRAPHY, Prague, Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University in Prague 2012. The aim of this thesis is to consider the relationship of Czech Luxembourg dynasty towards the French dynasty and the impact of their policies in western Europe. The work also focuses on different ways of perception of the Luxembourgs in both Czech and French environment and reasons for such observations. The Luxembourg dynasty, being originally an earl family of the French from Luxembourg, always had a strong relation towards France and its ruling dynasty which was based on mutual respect, friendship, similar opinions and also family bonds, the successors were educated at the French court. The two countries supported each other in fight andalso by mutual contact, visits and in terms of diplomacy. We have testimonies regarding these events thanks to medieval sources such as chronicles, annals, documents, correspondence and texts of authors from the French environment, who personally met Czech kings from the House of Luxembourg and therefore left us important insights into the situation of that time. John of Luxembourg has been perceived in as a model of knightly virtues and a brave fighter always loyal to the French king. In Bohemia, he was for centuries...

Rokczaner family of Prague's Old Town. From councillors to knights

This bachelor's thesis is focused on Rockzaner family, one significant patrician family of Prague's Old Town. The goal of this thesis is to bring wide biographical description of this family. Similiar biography already exists but just as a part of monumental work of Vaclav Vladivoj Tomek from 70's of 19th century. That is why I am persuaded that such biography should be rewriten to better suit modern historical science. Another goal is to prove that topic of prague's patrician families is not exhausted and there is still a plenty of free space for a research to be done. Next to biographical description this thesis also contains one chapter devoted to Rockzaner's rural estates and its's problematic. As for my opinion this biography should stand as a basis for future research of Rockzaner family and their's economical and social activities. The Golden Age of Martial Arts of Europe

The goal of this thesis is to depict the golden era of European martial arts, which I consider to have developed in the "long" sixteenth century.This century is probably the most diverse one in European history in terms of weaponsused and fighting stylesintroduced. It was permeated by the fading phenomenon of chivalry, which last showed up in its full glory. Also, it is the age of mercenaries gloriously mastering the battlefields with their often dishonest, though effective tactics. But early modernperiod was anera of another victory, too. It was the beginning of a new type of warrior. Old medieval fencing was overcome by nimble styles arriving from Mediterranean area. The journey of these technical styles was one full of Renaissance spontaneity but also blood from thousands of duels. In Czech lands,this turning pointis already chronicledintheera of Rudolph II., which was a haven for various arts. Fencing as part of education

The thesis is about teaching fencing from the past to the present times. It shows the developing of the first forms of fight and its change to a free time activity. It also shows the roots and functioning of some other free time activities which were derived from fencing. The next part of the thesis presents a few groups dedicated to the living history, historical fencing and experimental archeology in the Czech Republic and abroad. Last part of the thesis shows some possible usage of principles and methods of free time pedagogy in these free time activities as prevention of the sociological and pathological phenomenoms that endanger teenagers.
